Amazon
- We can publish your eBook to the Kindle Store on both Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk
- Signing up as a digital seller with Amazon is straightforward and can be linked to your existing Amazon account
- Amazon charge 30% commission on books priced at $9.99 or less
Apple
- The launch of Apple’s iPad has been one of the major factors in the boom in eBook sales, with Apple claiming to account for 1 in 4 eBook sales through the iBookstore app
- Signing up as a seller with Apple is fairly straightforward if you are a US Citizen or have a US Tax ITIN number (see the Do I need an ITIN number page for more details)
- Your eBook must have a unique ISBN number to be sold via the iBookstore (see ourPrices page for details of purchasing an ISBN number)
- Apple also charge 30% commission on eBook sales
Barnes & Noble
- B&N’s PubIt! scheme allows publishers and authors to sell their eBooks via the NOOKbooks section of their website – the World’s largest eBook store.
- Creating a PubIt! account is restricted to people with a valid US Tax ID and a credit card registered to a US address
- B&N charge 65% commission on books priced between $2.99 and $9.99, and 60% commission on books priced between $0.99 and $2.98 or between $10 and $199.99
Kobo Books
- Kobo is one of the most well established and progressive specialist eBook retailers
- Creating a seller account with Kobo is a manual process and you will need to physically complete a contract before you can sell your eBooks via the Kobo site
- Kobo currently charge authors and publishers a commission rate of 50%
Waterstones
- Waterstones are one of the UK’s largest book retailers, both online and in the high street
- Creating a seller account with Waterstones is a manual process and you will need to physically complete a contract before you can sell your eBooks via the Waterstones site
- Your eBook must have a unique ISBN number to be sold via Waterstones (see our Prices page for details of purchasing an ISBN number)
- The commission rate charged by Waterstones differs from contract to contract. If you would like to sell through our Waterstones account, you will be charged 40% commission by the retailer plus 10% by us.
Lulu
- Lulu is one of the most successful eBook and print on demand websites
- Setting up as a seller with Lulu is very straightforward
- Lulu charge 20% commission
Smashwords
- Smashwords use their own software to convert a specially formatted Word version of your book into a number of different eBook formats
- eBooks listed on Smashwords are sometimes also listed on other retailer websites including Sony and Amazon
- Setting up an account to sell on Smashwords is easy
- eBooks sold via the Smashwords site are subject to 15% commission plus a small transaction fee
