For books which are mainly text, the most popular formats are a Word file, PDF, or Pages file.

If your book has a complex layout or is a picture book, the most suitable formats are likely to be PDF or InDesign.

We can also work from printed books, which we would need to scan before converting to eBook formats. See our Book Scanning page for more details.

If you have your book in a different digital format please email to helpdesk@ebookpartnership.com so that we can take a look and let you know what the conversion options are.

Yes, we offer an excellent service for printed book to eBook. We can scan a physical book, extract the text from the scan and then convert that to an eBook (this process is sometimes called Digitizing). The process usually takes 7 to 10 days and costs from $149/£100.We get great feedback on our book scanning service and are confident that the quality of the output exceeds that of any other comparably priced service. For more details visit our Printed and Out-Of-Print books page.

Yes we can.

Illustrated books, picture books and graphic novels are usually most suited to conversion to Fixed-layout  eBook formats. These formats look fantastic on colour devices such as Apple’s iPad and iPhone, Amazon’s Kindle Fire and B&N’s  NOOK Color and NOOK tablets.

We can produce and distribute the following Fixed-layout eBook formats:

  • Fixed-layout ePUB 3 for Apple, Google, Kobo and Sony
  • Fixed-layout KF8 for Amazon Kindle
  • PagePerfect PDF for Barnes & Noble

For full details visit our Fixed-layout eBook Conversion page.

Yes, your eBook can have all the elements of a traditional printed book.  The Author bio can be a good tool for helping to encourage sales of the eBook and can be included in the eBook, and on the listings on retailer websites.

This will depend upon the type of content your book contains, the eBook formats that it is converted into, and the type of device/software that the reader is using to view your eBook, along with their own personal preferences and settings.

Most eBook reading devices, such as the iPad and Kindle, allow the reader to choose which font-faces and font-sizes they want displayed, which in turn can change the amount of content that is visible on a single “page” (screen). This means that with standard formats eBooks, i.e. Mobi and ePUB formats, that two people reading the same book on the same type of device may see quite different displays based on their own personal settings.

When we produce standard format eBooks, we ensure that your eBook is be formatted to perform across all the major reading devices and software.

With Fixed-layout eBooks, the content of each page is fixed so the reader cannot control the text size or font used. This means that Fixed-layout eBooks can be created to closely replicate the layout of more complex titles or heavily illustrated books.

If your work includes a colour front cover, images, diagrams or headings then they will be included in the eBook in colour. However, not all eReader devices display colour, so if your eBook is being viewed through a Kindle Paperwhite for example, then the coloured elements will be displayed in grayscale. Whereas if it is viewed on a Kindle Fire the coloured elements will be displayed in full colour.

Our standard price for eBook conversion to Mobi and ePUB formats is $199/£149 for a book that is mainly text and no longer than 75,000 words.

For Fixed-layout eBook conversion, we charge $3/£2 per page for ePUB 3 or KF8 conversion, or $3.75/£2.50 per page if you would like both ePUB 3 and KF8. We charge a per title price for PagePerfect conversion, which is based on the complexity of the PDF.

There is a minimum conversion cost of $75/£50 for single title projects.

If you have a number of titles for conversion we do offer discounted rates. Please complete our Quote Request form or email details of your requirement helpdesk@ebookpartnership.com

For full details of our prices please visit our Pricing and Packages page.

This will depend on where you want to sell your eBook.

Amazon and Apple are the only two retailers in our distribution network where an ISBN is optional. All the other retailers and distributors in our network do require an ISBN.

The ISBN used for your eBook must not be the same one you have used for any other versions of your book (print or audio).

If you are using both our eBook conversion and distribution services and need an ISBN for your eBook, we can allocate one to you for no charge.

If you are only using our eBook conversion or our distribution service, we charge £15/£10 to allocate an ISBN.

If you want to sell your eBook through any of the major retailers (with the exception of Amazon and Apple who do not require an ISBN) you will need to use a unique ISBN for your eBook. This means it must be different to the ISBN associated with any print version or audio version of your book.

The ISBN must be a 13 digit ISBN, rather than 10 digit.

If you are using both our eBook conversion and distribution services and need an ISBN for your eBook, we can allocate one to you for no charge.

If you are only using our eBook conversion or our distribution service, we charge £15/£10 to allocate an ISBN.
